Dubai is all set to get the world’s tallest metro station as Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum officially inaugurates the Metro Blue Line Project. Standing 74 meters tall, the station will also offer integrated commercial and investment opportunities.

The project will span 30 km and feature 14 stations, aiming to transform and making easier for travelers to move across nine key districts in Dubai.

On Monday, June 9, 2025, Dubai Ruler, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, attended the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Dubai Metro Blue Line project, where he also approved the final design of the Emaar Properties Station.

Inspired by the crossing gateway concept, the station was designed by the American architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), one of the world’s top design studios. The same design studio firm behind iconic landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa, New York’s Olympic Tower, and Chicago’s Sears Tower.

Covering an area of approximately 11,000 square meters, the station is designed to accommodate 160,000 passengers per day, with the number of daily travelers expected to exceed 70,000 by 2040. With the completion of the Blue Line project, Dubai’s rail network will expand to a total of 131 km, comprising 78 stations and 168 trains.

Officially announced in December 2024, Dubai’s RTA has now confirmed that the Blue Line will be completed and open to the public by September 9, 2029. Upon Completion, the project is expected to benefit 200,000 passengers every day by 2030, with this number rising to 320,000 by 2040 as the Dubai population continues to grow.
