Dubai is ranked among the most infrastructurally developed cities in the world. Given its development, it houses a well-connected transportation system. The public transport network in Dubai includes metros, trams, buses, taxis, and ferries. Dubai Tram is one of the innovative transport systems, offering an easy commute to Dubai’s shoreline. Operated by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), it connects the city’s busiest districts.

Tram was introduced to reduce the roadway congestion in roadway neighborhoods of Dubai, such as Dubai Marina, Dubai Media City, and Al Sufouh. Let’s explore everything you should know about this transportation mode. Including maps, routes, stations, tickets, and prices. So, keep reading the guide.

Overview of Dubai Tram

In November 2014, the Dubai Tram system was officially launched by the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and the Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Since then, it has been a part of Dubai’s transportation system. It was the first tram outside Europe that was powered by a ground-based electric supply system with no overhead lines, demonstrating Dubai’s commitment to eco-conscious innovation and smart mobility solutions.

The project was developed with cutting-edge safety features and user-friendly systems to enhance the travel experience. Moreover, platform screen doors were installed that were aligned with the opening and closing of the tram doors, ensuring enhanced convenience, safety, and security. Each train will contain seven cabins, including gold class, silver class, women and children cabins, and an area for People of Determination.
