Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan – Abu Dhabi

Born in 1918 in Abu Dhabi, he was the youngest son of Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler of Abu Dhabi. At this time, the economy of the emirate depends mainly on fishing and pearl diving. Everyone, even the rulers, was living a simple life. He received the fundamental knowledge of Islam from a local preacher and spent most of his time with Bedouin tribes, understanding their lifestyle and customary skills. 

The founding father of the UAE became the governor of the Eastern Region, known as Al Ain, in 1946. After 20 years in 1966, he was appointed the ruler of Abu Dhabi. The British declared to withdraw from the Arabian Gulf by 1971 in 1968. Sheikh Zayed, along with the late ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, led the initiative to develop a federation that would include the seven emirates of the Trucial States, Bahrain, and Qatar. 

On December 2, 1971, the seven states joined Sheikh Zayed to form the United Arab Emirates. That’s why he is known as the father of the nation. Later on, he was chosen as the first president of the UAE. With his vision and guidance, Abu Dhabi emerged as a global capital. Born in 1949, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum is the ruler of Dubai and Prime Minister and Vice President of the UAE. He was the third son of Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum. He received a formal education from Al Ahmadiya School and then moved to Al Shaab School. Later on, he went to study at Mons Officer Cadet School and emerged as a top Commonwealth cadet, earning the sword of honour. 

At the age of 20, he was designated as the head of the Dubai Police Force and the Dubai Defence Force. Afterwards, when the UAE was established, Mohammed was chosen as the Minister of Defence of the UAE at the age of 22. He was appointed as the crown prince of Dubai on January 3, 1995. In late 1995, Mohammed introduced the Dubai Shopping Festival, which contributed significantly to the UAE’s economy. Mohammed became the ruler of Dubai on January 4, 2006, and the Vice President of the UAE the subsequent day.

Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi – Sharjah

Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi was born on 2 July 1939. He is the current ruler of Sharjah and received primary and secondary education in Sharjah and Dubai. He went to study for a Bachelor of Agriculture in Egypt. He pursued and earned a PhD in history at the University of Exeter and in political geography of the Gulf at Durham University. He has written more than 82 books in the fields of history, literature, and theater.

After the formation of the UAE, he was appointed as Minister of Education in the UAE. He became the ruler of Sharjah, the Cultural Capital of the Arab Region, in 1972. He is an active member of the UAE’s Supreme Council of Union, the top constitutional authority of the country. He primarily focuses on education, culture, arts, and safeguarding culture. Under his leadership, Sharjah earned prestigious titles, such as:

Born in 1931, Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi is an Emirati royal and politician. He is ruling Ajman and is a participant in the Federal Supreme Council. He completed his early education in Dubai and went to Cairo for higher education. When the United Arab Emirates was established, he took part in state affairs. 

He is the 10th ruler of Ajman and started ruling Ajman after the death of his father, Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi III, in 1981. He has four sons, including His Highness Sheikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, the Crown Prince of Ajman. The emirate showcases unparalleled growth in the reign of His Highness Sheikh Humaid. He developed the Ajman Free Zone to draw in foreign investment and diversify the economy.

Sheikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mu’alla was born on October 1, 1952. He started ruling Umm Al Quwain in 2009 after the death of his father, Rashid Bin Ahmad Al Mu’alla II. He acquired a primary and elementary education in Umm Al Quwain, higher education from Lebanon, and a graduation from Cairo University in economics. 

He became a part of the Federal Supreme Council in 2009. Sheikh Saud was chosen as the third secretary in the UAE Foreign Ministry in 1973 and the Commander of the Umm Al Quwain National Guard. He became the Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain on 22nd of June 1982. He has helped his father in state affairs and created many government firms. He introduced the first offshore gas project in collaboration with the Ras Al Khaimah government in 2006.

By prioritizing economic diversification, he led Umm Al Quwain towards remarkable growth. He acquired his early education in Ras Al Khaimah and headed to the USA for higher education. He studied Economics and Political Science at the University of Michigan. 

Following the completion of higher education, he came back to the UAE in 1979 and became the chief of the Ras Al Khaimah Royal Court. Sheikh Saud was chosen as Chairman of the Ras Al Khaimah Municipal Council. He presided over several boards of companies. He became the Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah in 2005. After the death of his father, Sheikh Saqr Mohammed Al Qasimi, in 2010, he started ruling Ras Al Khaimah and joined the Supreme Council of the Union. 

Sheikh Saud has positioned Ras Al Khaimah as a major player in global trade. The Emirates acts as a bridge to Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Africa due to its strategic position. His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi was born on 22nd of February 1949 in Fujairah. His mother, Fatima Bint Rashid Al Nuaimi, is the princess and the sister of the ruler of Ajman, Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi. He completed his early education in Fujairah and went to the United Kingdom to pursue education at the Military Academy. 

He came back to the UAE in 1971 and assisted his father as a Deputy Ruler of the Emirate of Fujairah, one of the northern emirates of the United Arab Emirates. He founded Kuwaiti Hospital and three more state-of-the-art hospitals in the emirates to offer comprehensive healthcare. He became the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries following the establishment of the UAE. In 1974, he took charge of the emirate at the age of 25, after the death of his father, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Al Sharqi. 

Positioned outside the Strait of Hormuz, Fujairah plays a strategic role in global shipping and oil trade, providing easy access to international waters. Its ports have become a key gateway for imports and exports, strengthening the emirate’s economy.
