Environmental experts and enthusiasts will now be able to obtain the Blue Residency Visa to foster their efforts, the UAE cabinet announced on Thursday.

The UAE Cabinet approved a 10-year Blue Residency Visa on Thursday for exceptional talent in the field of sustainability and environmental protection. H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid AL Maktoum, Vice president and the Ruler of Dubai, chaired the cabinet meeting. Following it, the cabinet announced the issuance of the Blue Visa to people who have demonstrated exceptional enthusiasm in various environmental fields.

Visa for Sustainability Talent

This is a long-term residency program introduced by the UAE for environmental advocates. This 10-year visa will be awarded to individuals who have played a significant role and demonstrated exceptional contributions and efforts toward environmental protection. The purpose of this initiative is to support sustainability endeavors in the UAE and beyond, corresponding with the UAE governmentโ€™s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability.

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, โ€œThe sustainability of our economy has become linked to the sustainability of our environment, and our national directions in this area are clear and consistent. โ€

He goes on to write that people who are eligible for a 10-year Blue Visa could concentrate on eco-efforts, either in marine or land environmental protection. They will also focus on sustainability, the development and adaptation of modern technologies, the circular economy, and other interrelated fields.

People who actively support environmental initiatives, whether on a local or an international scale, will be awarded the Blue Residency in the UAE. Generally, global award winners, activists, and prominent researchers will be considered for Blue Residency Visas. Interested candidates can directly submit their application through the services of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security.
